The Why, What and How?

Why do children misbehave? Every child, at some point, will misbehave. What can we do to assist children in learning to behave appropriately? When you understand why your children misbehave, you’ll be able to devise new strategies for preventing bad behaviors. Try a new approach to solving the problem by determining why your child is misbehaving the next time she does not follow the rules.

Internal conflicts, worries, concerns, stress, hunger, and external influences such as friends or television can cause individuals to act out.

They may be bullied, seek attention, don’t want anything, or be upset at other times.

Understanding why children act out or break rules does not make their bad behavior acceptable, but it does help us know what we can do to assist them to avoid repeating it.
