Knowing the motivation behind a child’s behavior is an invitation to teach and train the child on the proper path. 

 When a child behaves in an unpleasant manner, parents must respond by providing suitable instruction. The question is, why is my child acting so strangely? What did you find out? 

 After you’ve figured out where the behavior came from, the next thing to consider is What do I need to teach him/her about this behaviour? 

 It’s possible you’d like to teach about effective time management and accountability. Or it could be about deciding which activities to participate in. Or how to deal with dissatisfaction in a more adaptive way. 

Remember that their reaction is the most effective means of communicating with you they know. You now have the responsibility of teaching them how to respond properly.
