Do You Love Your Spouse?

Do You Love Your Spouse?

I know love was the reason you married each other, it was very obvious to all and sundry that you love each other.

Looking back now, after being together for a while, can you still say you love your spouse? Hasn’t bitterness and resentment crept in? Aren’t you torn between two opinions right now?

For some no hard feelings at all. Just that we are married and we are married but work and issues of life have kept us so busy that we don’t nurture our love anymore. We now take each other for granted.

What’s in our subconscious is what we act out unconsciously and that is who we are. Children can tell if we actually love each other.

Love is a choice, love is a decision, love is deliberate. If all these aren’t there our children believe we are only professing to love ourselves but we are not true. And of a truth, if it’s in our heart it will reflect in our character.

The import of this is that children especially teens thrive on the demonstration of love between parents. They want the confidence that comes from knowing that dad and mum love each other. A beautiful marriage makes family life attractive.

The absence of love makes children insecure. They reason, if dad and mum don’t love each other how would they love me, the reason a lot of children are out there looking for what is not lost.

Love between parents is basic to healthy family relationships.
