Instructing or Reacting

Instructing or Reacting

Mrs. Anderson’s response to her son’s behaviour always results in a conflict between them. This got her really worried and thinking.

Jude’s strong will and emotional nature makes him a handful. His response to most requests and directives are always dramatic.

In the course of time Mrs Anderson realized she was reacting and not instructing. She could see the correlation between his response and her own style of instruction. As she notes what diffuses and escalates the situations.

Over time she learned that being proactive made Jude do better as they discussed directives and consequences before any issue arose.

The amount of conflicts and frictions between her and her son reduced greatly much to her relief when she changed her style of communication.

Most times the response we get from our children is directly proportional to our outburst and reactions when they err.

The question is how and what do you communicate to your children with your response?
